Market Plaza

In 2003, MADCO took over what used to be ‘Gaborone Station Market’ under a lease with its owner, Gaborone City Council and refurbished it into a modern shopping centre. The 1,200 sq.m centre (later expanded to 2,400 sq.m) was developed to provide small and micro enterprises with a platform to trade. The centre, now popularly known as Market Plaza, provides accommodation to 107 SMMEs.

Amongst its many tenants are 30 informal traders who sell their wares from custom-made stalls within the shopping centre. In recognition of their ‘disadvantaged’ status in the economy, MADCO charges these traders subsidized rentals.

Market Plaza is located at the corner of Mmaraka road, which connects the City Centre to the main Train Station and some mini-bus ranks. It boasts a number of small sized retail units rented by citizen entrepreneurs specializing mainly in fashion wear, hair dressing, etc. It also boasts a spacious food court consisting of 11 food vendors who serve meals to civil servants from the adjacent Government Enclave, amongst its many patrons.

Mot-kem

In 2007, MADCO built a 1,200 sq.m retail/office block, on plot 54049, at Block 6 Local Centre, a growing commercial centre at the heart of Gaborone’s up-market Block 6 suburb. The two-storey building is named Mot-kem Centre after Mothei and Kemme, the two children of Mr. and Mrs. Gabegwe. Mot-kem currently houses MADCO’s Head Office, Superfit Gymnasium as well as eight (8) other businesses.

Nkoyaphiri Mall

The first shopping centre to be developed by MADCO outside Gaborone City, Nkoyaphiri Mall was built in 2012. The mall sits along the ever-busy Gaborone-Gabane road, within the Industrial area in the Nkoyaphiri ward of Mogoditshane. It was developed to serve users of the high-way as well as to provide the localities of Tsolamosese, Nkoyaphiri and Gabane with a one-stop shopping facility.

The 3000 sq.m mall is currently anchored by Shoppers Supermarket of the Sefalana Group of Companies. The rest of the mall’s retail space is leased out to a mix of local SMMEs trading in a variety of goods and services.

Palapye Residential Apartments

In 2013, MADCO built a residential property in Palapye, the first development outside of its portfolio of commercial property. The company wanted to explore the residential sector, which remained underdeveloped despite the exponential growth in the town’s industrial sector.  The property consists of 6 housing units, made up of 5 townhouses and a high-cost house, sitting on a 1,700 sq.m plot. It is located in the up-market suburb of Extension 4, which has paved internal roads.

Given its character, the property is designed to serve the corporate sector in the area.  It boasts a number of luxury and security features such as fitted kitchens and cupboards, furnished bedrooms, landscaping, covered parking, private courtyards, electric fence, automated gate, intercom system, DStv access, etc.

Fourway Centre

In 2014, MADCO developed its fourth commercial property, named Fourway Centre, in the Mogoditshane’s western suburb of Block 5. With 1000 sq.m of lettable area, this is the smallest of the four centres in the company’s portfolio. The mall is however suited to the area as it is anchored by a convenience store operated by Shoppers Supermarket and tenanted by 5 other small retailers trading in fresh produce, hair salon services, internet services, dining services, etc.

The centre serves a well built-up area, made up largely of multi-residential homesteads. It is neighbored by a busy rank which is the official point of entry/departure for mini-buses commuting between Gaborone City Centre and this area of Mogoditshane.
